Do Duyen (Do Thi Duyen) works in silk—a material as fragile, layered, and elusive as the emotions she paints.

What lies beneath the surface? What is hidden in the softness? Through delicate textures and careful control, Do Duyen doesn’t just paint women—she paints what they don’t say.

Her works rarely shout. Instead, they whisper. A strand of hair, the curve of a hand, a shadow on silk—each element invites closer looking, deeper reading. Hair recurs like a quiet obsession—sometimes veiling, sometimes revealing, always hinting at untold stories. Hands, too, offer their own language: open, hidden, folded, or reaching, they carry the weight of emotion without saying a word.

Holding master’s degrees from the University of Fine Arts, she is currently a lecturer at Hanoi Metropolitan University
