Piêu Du – The First Weaving

At the heart of the exhibition lies the series “Piêu Du”, which transforms the piêu scarf—a traditional Thái wedding gift and cultural symbol—into a contemporary ritual of healing.

The piêu is both wedding gift and cultural symbol: each stitch carrying promises, dignity, and the enduring spirit of women. Through vast silk scrolls, abstract stitching, and collaborative sewing, “Piêu Du” transforms the act of embroidery into an artistic ritual of healing and rebirth.

The exhibition unfolds as a living ritual: reconstructed stilt houses, weaving tools, and silk scrolls mingle with performance, the sounds of khắp singing, the mouth harp, and the breath of Northwestern forests.

The Companions in Creation

The exhibition is also enriched by the voices of fellow artists.

Tây Phong brings a performative language of body and sound, allowing movement and music to converse with the installations.

Lê Thị Minh Tâm contributes paintings that echo the strength and tenderness of Thái women, rendered with bold emotion.

Nguyễn Trần Thảo Nguyên, a daughter of the Northwest and of a younger generation, paints the forests of her birthplace in an abstract, lyrical way—like memories flowing back into form.
